Hi. There are many people who complain about knee pain during prone one leg kick and double leg kick. So, they feel pain during knee flexion when hip is extended. I wonder why it is so, and the solution to this. Thank you so much. |

Hi! The hamstring extends the hip and flexes the knee. In this position, you are challenging it. This is why most will lift the front of their hip from the mat (hip flexion) to help them bend the knee. Also, consider you have the proximal hamstring (at the bottom of the pelvis) and the distal hamstring ( behind your knee). The knee pain could be helped by some external force like a theraband and/or imagining you are bending the knee from that proximal hamstring which will create more work in the hip, more resistance, and a smaller range of motion. I hope this helps. Love Jen |
