Description

Nikki Chrysostomou teaches her presentation on the Male pelvis, including working with male clients, looking at the male pelvic floor and male pelvic dysfunction along with 3 common injuries: inguinal hernia, groin strains, and unstable pubic symphysis.


In each section, you will review/learn anatomy, common causes, and exercises in preventing these dysfunctions and/or injuries


Nikki demonstrates her teaching skills on a male client giving teaching and coaching cues as well as contraindications and progressions

 

Objectives

  • To better understand the difference between the male and female pelvis 
  • To better understand the structure of the male pelvic floor 
  • To better understand inguinal hernias and causes in a male client 
  • To learn exercises that help prevention of an inguinal hernia
  • To better understand the instability of the pubic symphysis in the male client 
  • To learn exercises to help prevent instability of the pubic symphysis for a male client 
  • To better understand groin injuries and learn exercises that prevent groin injuries  
  • To learn teaching tools to use in the Pilates work space

  • Verbal direction and how to be clear, short and precise in your teaching practice 
  • Realizing less can be more and the benefits of starting from the inside 
  • Correcting alignment to maximize the benefit of the exercise 
  • How you can use tactile cueing to improve your clients performance
