Description
Growing Resilience Through Movement is designed for those who are already working with kids and those who would like to, but don’t know where to start. Allie Greene discusses the importance of play and movement, sensory integration, and interoception in children and how we can use our skills as movement practitioners to create fun, innovative, and inspiring classes for them.
Explore developmental patterns, how they can be incorporated into a movement class, and how helping kids be more integrated into their bodies affects mood, confidence and how they interact with the world. With the template she provides, Allie walks through each section of a class with numerous ideas that will provide plenty of options on their own, or inspire additional explorations using Pilates, yoga, creative movement, and games. The end result is a class that encourages independent/creative thinking, whole-body movement, self-efficacy, and resilience.
Objectives
- Understanding how to design classes for children
- Strategies to encourage creative thinking through movement
- Building resilience through movement education

This is a wonderful workshop, and I felt combined multiple disciplines of movement that can be used in versatile ways; I teach dance to kids (as well as Pilates for adults) and often find that everything that was covered in this workshop are awesome tools to bridge kid's minds with abstract styles like Modern Dance. I also loved the ways Allie described where and how to teach self--regulation.

Great Course! I really enjoyed the Instructors passion and knowledge for the subject. Allie provided very informative ways that children learn and appropriate exercsies and language to use when teaching kids. This course gave me a new appreciation in the importance of kids needing to move in a way that is mindful, self expressive, and creates positive self awareness and body regulation. I highly recommend this course!

Very interesting workshop regarding developmental stages and great movement ideas for kids!

Allie is very clear and concise and while children love repetition, so do we adults and I loved how she continued to cover topics in each section, repeating them and their characteristics and importance to movement. As a teaching professional from K-8, she is very on point to children's attention spans, and need for learning through fun and movement.
