Description

In this online Pilates workshop, Spiral Spine Pilates founder Erin Myers offers her unique approach to effectively working with children who have scoliosis.

Children with scoliosis can be particularly daunting clients for Pilates instructors, simply because they don’t have experience working with them. Erin demonstrates straightforward and thorough techniques that give instructors the knowledge and confidence they need to support and guide these children as they grow and move.

Methods include analyzing and tracking a scoliotic body, while engaging the child throughout the entire process. Key scoliosis movement principles are taught which stabilize curves through a series of exercises that young children can easily understand. Erin also teaches important concepts on how to help the child own their scoliosis, both physically and emotionally.

In addition, the workshop addresses ways to increase a children’s proprioception, involve the child’s parents, let the child feel like they’re in charge, and make lessons fun!
