Description

Walking is a necessary functional movement for any age but especially for the aging population. It is practical and impacts quality of life. Maintaining functional gait patterning also improves other daily life activities.

Madeline Black is known for her gait focused work and functional Pilates. This online Pilates workshop will look at simple gait patterning, specifically the spinal-pelvic and limb rhythms, identifying the imbalance areas, and learning specialized movements to bring gait into better balance.

Objectives

  • To learn more about gait patterning through lecture and observations
  • To understand how to assess and individualize a movement series from a gait perspective
  • To learn how to build a strategy for movement progressions
  • To practice using Pilates and non-Pilates exercises progression with a gait focus
