Video Send-In
Please send in a video of yourself teaching a client in a private session so we can see how you are digesting the information, and what your teaching style is like.
This is a golden opportunity for us to help you refine and expand your teaching, as well as look at how your client interaction is progressing. We recommend teaching someone you are familiar with so you can be at ease with them in the session. Take your time; we are more interested in seeing how you teach the body in front of you than seeing you simply go through the rote choreography. Try to make your send-in between 30 and 45 minutes long.
Please include a brief introduction of yourself and your client at the beginning of the video. Also include which video send-in this is (this is Session 25). In addition, please tell us your client’s unique set of circumstances (if any) so we can more fully understand your choices in the session. No one is going to see this but us. Don’t be nervous and don’t stress about it. Relax and have fun with this! See some filming tips below that will help you.
First Master Instructor Phone Conference
Remember to book your first phone meeting with us to go over your video. Your instructor phone conference should happen about a week from the time you submit your video. You can request some possible times when you submit your video using the form below.
Make sure to be organized before your conference. Have all of your questions ready!
Filming Tips
This is not a major motion picture; point your phone and shoot! But here are a few tips that will help make it easy for the Master Instructors to clearly see what you’re doing so they can give you some great feedback.
• Any camera is fine. It’s hard to find a phone these days that doesn’t have video capability. Use whatever will be easiest for you.
• Stability. Please don’t have someone hold the camera to film you. If you have a tripod, use that. If you don’t, set your camera on a table, bookshelf, or any stable surface. Set it up, press record, and leave it! The less movement the better.
• Lights. Turn on all the lights, open the curtains—let as much light fall into the area you’ll be teaching as you can. Try not to have the light coming from behind where you’re teaching and towards the camera. A backlit situation—for example, a bright window behind where you’re teaching—will cause the camera to expose for the bright light, instead of for the subjects.
• Frame your shot. Make sure the camera is seeing the entire area that you will be using. Take a look and make sure you can see your subject in whatever positions they will be in during the session: prone on the mat, standing, etc.
• Sound. Try to keep background noise to a minimum so our Master Instructors can hear your cueing. Turn off the TV and any music, and see what you can do about those kids!
• Upload. Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo, DropBox or similar. Make sure your video can be viewed by anyone with the link. (For YouTube: Unlisted works – Private doesn’t). If you need help – please open a support ticket.
• Schedule. Please submit your video link and some days/times to chose from for your Master Instructor conference below. We will be in touch to schedule.
We will contact you soon to lock down a day and time for your Skype or phone call.
