Your Assignment:
Things to Focus On
1.) Explore the range of motion found in the spine by mobilizing the pelvis, and stabilizing the lower limbs. How does this effect the movements of the clients? Where do their movements get sticky?
2.) Now play with the exercises that focus on mobilizing the limbs while challenging the lumbo pelvic stability. Look for the movement indicators that will alert you to the client’s end range. Give modifications where needed, as well as added challenges when applicable.
3.) Make sure to challenge the lumbo pelvic stability in a number of different gravitational planes. This will give you much needed information as to where your client’s weaknesses are located, and what areas need more work. Also remember to keep reinforcing the concepts of breath and release.
1 Personal Practice Hour:
Think about the Neutral Pelvis/Spine and Lumbo Pelvic Stability concepts we’ve focused on in the last Observation Video and Session Video, as well as the Things to Focus On above. Do a practice hour with these concepts in mind.
2 Student Teaching Hours:
Now, plan two teaching sessions based on these same concepts. Teach these sessions to a friend or family member. Incorporate some of the verbal and hands-on cueing you’ve seen in the videos. Try to make them your own.
Always treat these Teaching Hours the same as if you were in a studio teaching a paying client.
Don’t forget to log these hours in your Master Log!
