Your Assignment:
Things To Focus On
1.) Explore the different areas that your client needs release work in. Everybody has tightness, and it is such a great teaching tool to have your clients feel how they are connected to their movement.
2.) Experiment with the different tools and props that can be helpful in release work. A lot of times simple stretches just don’t cut it. Bringing out the tennis balls and foam rollers are immensely helpful in letting go of tension.
3.) Really look at the clients in their movements and see where you can cue release even within the exercises. This is such an important key to the work. You need to teach the clients how to move efficiently and without extra strain and gripping.
1 Personal Practice Hour:
Think about the Breathing and Release concepts we’ve focused on in the last Observation Video and Session Video, and the Things to Focus On above. Do a practice hour with these concepts in mind.
2 Student Teaching Hours:
Now, plan two teaching sessions based on these same concepts. Teach these sessions to a friend or family member. Incorporate some of the verbal and hands-on cueing you’ve seen in the videos. Try to make them your own.
Always treat these Teaching Hours the same as if you were in a studio teaching a paying client.
Don’t forget to log these hours in your Master Log!
