Session 21
Assignment

Your Assignment:

Things to Focus On

1.) Make sure your clients are building strength, not just gripping the torso. These exercises are supposed to be done with focus and intent. Keep cueing their inner workings to activate the TA, pelvic floor, multifidus, and breath. If they are not breathing through the exercise, they have missed the point completely.
2.) Look for and focus on universal curves of the spine. Within spinal articulations you want to see a supple, mobile spine, but not at the sake of gripping else where. You want to see your client arch, curl, and then come back to neutral with ease.
3.) Pay attention to spinal rotations. Most people only rotate from a few areas of the spine. Encourage your clients not to be destination oriented, but to try to find movement in areas that are dormant.

1 Personal Practice Hour:

Think about the Ab Strength and Spinal Stability/Mobility concepts we’ve focused on in the last Observation Video and Session Video, as well as the Things to Focus On above. Do a practice hour with these concepts in mind.

2 Student Teaching Hours:

Now, plan two teaching sessions based on these same concepts. Teach these sessions to a friend or family member. Incorporate some of the verbal and hands-on cueing you’ve seen in the videos. Try to make them your own.

Always treat these Teaching Hours the same as if you were in a studio teaching a paying client.

Don’t forget to log these hours in your Master Log!
