Description
Join Elizabeth Larkam for this online Pilates workshop designed to advance your effectiveness as a Pilates professional by learning and understanding skillful verbal and touch cues that enhance the value and safety of reformer movement sequences. Working within your scope of practice as a movement educator in the Pilates environment, learn to convey valuable alignment information using precise words and touch that give directional intent. Learn cues that clarify movement relationships to enhance stability, mobility, coordination, and rhythm. Elizabeth Larkam demonstrates appropriate positioning of yourself with respect to your client in order to cue with respect, clarity, and compassion. She shows that awareness of your own alignment will improve your comfort while contributing to the accuracy of your cues. Elizabeth demonstrates that vocal rhythm and inflection are effective cueing instruments. In addition to learning Pilates-specific skills, in this workshop you will develop awareness of the importance of your intention and the value of maintaining the integrity of your energy field. The order of the exercises shows you how to “Sequence for Success”, integrating lumbo-pelvic stability in all planes with functional rotation of the spine. Part 1 of the reformer class includes eight exercises and the cues that support them. The client progresses safely through supine, quadruped, seated, high-kneeling, and standing. The movement sequences in Part 1 teach the skills required for Part 2, Elastic Recoil training. Reformer Elastic Recoil training includes foot and leg jumping on the jump board in quadruped, side lying and supine. Arm jumps are practiced in quadruped and side-sitting.Objectives

This was my first workshop with Fusion Pilates and I definitely plan to do more. I went into this thinking it would provide more detail and examples for coming up with vivid and useful verbal cues, especially when in a group setting. This was more for one-on-one and maybe duets where the cueing is much more tactile. So, for me, there was a disconnect between expectations and reality.
Jody B--- QuizpageId 20945

Allyson T--- QuizpageId 20945
Wonderful curing suggestions, particularly when it came to body placement in relation to the client/giving them the space to have their own kinesthetic experience of movements. The ending Neutral Separation moment was something that had never occurred to me to do with a client, but I can see being very valuable.
James B--- QuizpageId 20945
A very detailed series of exercises with an emphasis on the how and why of the cueing. I also have a better understanding of interacting and showing attention to the client but respecting their space.
Heidi T--- QuizpageId 20945
Looking forward to applying Elizabeth’s guidance on handing over the education to the client and not over cueing. Can’t wait to teach these movements. Thank you

I have been a trainer for 23 years. I found this content to be useful and inspiring. I understand it is not part of this curriculum to teach modifications but I have clients that kneeling is a problem. Knee replacements that have never healed correctly etc. I am going to experiment with different modifications to help with the kneeling issues and keep the integrity of the exercises.Thank you.

Lots of very good information. I don't usually enjoy her presentations at conferences because of the other teachers asking so many silly questions. Very good to see her just present the material.... Thanks!

I enjoyed hearing Elizabeth Larkhams set-up descriptions. It was very helpful to be able to step back and examine how to present anexercise, how to think about my space and the clients space, and finally how to reexamine how I am cueing in light of her thoughtful explanations about how she cues.
Mary Sue C--- QuizpageId 20945
I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop but would love more info on elastic recoil. Why it is useful/important. Also I would love more explanation on why the rhythm of the arm jumps with rotation and why the clap in the sequence.

Betina W--- QuizpageId 20945
Thank you for this creative workshop! I specifically liked the attention to detail and clear explanations as to why to cue (tactile or verbally) a certain way. I never much thought about my own placement in relation to the student. The flow was marvelous, each new move prepared by an earlier exercise. Maybe I missed the spring tension on some of the exercises. As always I appreciated Elizabeth's soothing voice and her humor out of left field. Thanks again Elizabeth, you are an inspiration.
