About This Workshop

Joseph Pilates was a boxer and circus performer and dancers were some of the very first to discover the benefits of his amazing techniques . Athletes and dancers have always been drawn to the Pilates work. Troy McCarty draws on his vast experience in working with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland San Jose Ballet to present a series of exercises that are designed for the professional athlete and dancer.

Concepts & Techniques

The movements and techniques explored in this workshop will enhance and improve movement for the athlete and dancer with the goal of maximizing performance and minimizing injury. While Troy employs these techniques with elite professional athletes and dancers - most of the exercises can be used with regular clients as well.

Enjoyed all the different variations of exercises working specific muscles. I would think that the ballet dancers would also need some specific internal rotation leg work exercises since they are always working in external rotation. Usually the dancer's external rotators are tight and the internal rotators are weak.

I really enjoyed this workshop! Troy gives excellent and very clear instructions. He cues proper positioning, posture and breathing beautifully. The camera angles were very clear, allowing the viewer to completely see each exercise. He did not speak too quickly or rush through the exercises which I appreciated. Thank you!!

Enjoyable! I liked these variations, and I found it especially helpful when Troy would related the exercise to the specific skill needed for the dancer/athlete. I would have liked some variation to help train quickness -- so crucial in most sports/dance, and something that is often difficult to achieve through Pilates...
